Movie Poster Design
Your task is to create a Movie Poster for a real or fictitious movie starring You.
The Poster MUST:
- Be school appropriate!
- Create a working sketch with thumbnail sketches of what you envision your poster to look like
- Be 11" by 17" in CMYK Colour space
- Be 300 pixels per inch in resolution
- It is advised to have you as the sole character or one of the characters or all the characters in your poster.
- If you use others, use people in the class in the poster, however don't use up their time to restrict them from working on their own poster. I would prefer you did not use people on spares as the studio/class will be over crowded.
- Be a layered Photoshop or InDesign file
- Contain at least 1 close-cropped image
- Have a dominate image (remember this is a challenge of your creative skills, simple posters will get simple marks).
- Contain Layer styles
- All Titles and visible words must be created by you.
- The fine print of the poster can be placeholder text (Lorem ipsum) - look for MoviePoster font on dafont.com
- Have a movie tag line
- Have a release date for the movie
- List the main cast and crew (in movie poster style)
- Include the Studio’s logo (studio logo icons are accepted; therefore you do not need to create.
- Be printed on the colour laser and cut to the trim marks
- List the studio, major cast, producer, director, writer etc.

One challenge for the project will be to find or generate high quality images that will look good at the size and resolution you need. You will immediately notice that Internet images will probably not be high enough resolution. You will have to come up with alternate resources or a creative solution.
